My idea of a first date could be a matter of just meeting face to face, so I would say someplace quite & comfortable ( a neutral location) for both of us so as we can get to know each other a little over dinner or just a drink (coffee or a drink), from there it could be a movie or whatever

I'd like it to be an opportunity where we can talk a lot so that we're able to get to know each other well. So a nice quiet meal followed by a walk along the beach sounds good to me (corny I know but never mind!).

I pick you up and we drive to a great restaurant that I've picked out. The conversation is typical small talk. Along the way, it starts pouring rain and I get a flat. You and I are both thinking "Oh man - this date is already going bad." I pull over expecting to get drenched changing the tire. But I notice a little bistro right up the road and get an idea. I say "I wanted to impress you with a fine meal tonight, but I think this is a sign. Lets go in there". We dodge the rain drops and run to the door. Inside, the place is delightful and charming. There's a musician playing Spanish guitar, and the staff is welcoming and full of smiles. The evening that was going so badly suddenly takes a great turn. We smile at each other relishing the good turn. The food is simple but delicious. Before long, we are laughing together, sampling each others foods and having seconds on coffee because we don't want this evening to end. The rain stopped hours ago and as we walk back to the car, you reach over and take my hand.
My first date would just be hanging around and chatting, a lite dinner, some wine, and enjoying each other company.
